Trip to Catalina Island

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Trip to Catalina is always exciting, specially if the weather is nice.

It originally started as a request for 5 divers to do a double tank dive at the local  dive sites around Bayahibe and ended up as a trip to Catalina Island with 26 people.

Even though the weather wasn’t the greatest (but on the other hand better then then the night before when we had pouring rain from about 6PM till 4 AM the next day), everybody had a good time. The newly weds and 3 more divers did 2 dives, the visibility after the heavy rains wasn’t as good as normally is, but they enjoyed the dives. The snorkelers and the rest of the group spent some time on the beach  while the divers went for the second dive. Good to hear from you guys that everybody had a good time on the trip to Catalina Island.

Great scuba trip to Catalina Island

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

We had a great diving trip to Catalina Island today. We did two dives , The Wall and The Aquarium. The water was nice and clear, the visibility was good. We saw a spotted eagle ray, about 7 ft long and 4 ft span, lobsters, a huge puffer fish and lots of other marine life. We had great time and enjoyed every minute of it.

After the dives we went to the island to have a lunch and relax for a while on the beautiful white beach. The high season ended so the island wasn’t crowded at all.

On the way back to Bayahibe Bay the ocean was a bit wavy. We came back at the right time, an hour later we had a quick tropical shower.  The divers usually don’t mind the rain, but it’s better to enjoy the boat ride under sunny sky then in a pouring rain.

Saona Island, Dominican Republic

Trip to Saona Island, Mangroves and Piscina Natural is probably the most popular right now. We met a wonderful family from Santo Domingo with their Italian friends and had a great Saturday trip to our favorite spots.

The weather was great, kids had fun and everybody was tired that didn’t even want to go snorkeling to Bayahibe Bay at the end of the trip. Well next time.

And we had a new captain!!!! Captain Owen, come back soon:)

Fun trip to El Macao beach, Bavaro

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

We do fun trips as well; not all trips we do have to be diving trips or boat trips. This time we went for a day trip to El Macao beach and Bavaro, east side of Dominican Republic.

Anybody who goes to El Macao beach for the first time is surprised by the magnificent and breathtaking view. Just as you come over the hill a beautiful beach comes out of nowhere and so far everybody we took there has screamed WOW!!!

After a couple of hours chilling on the beach we went for a drink to Jellyfish restaurant, located at the public beach in Bavaro. We watched the sunset there and finished the fun day trip at Tony Romas Restaurant, eating their famous ribs.

Saona, Piscina Natural and snorkeling at Bayahibe Bay

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

A family of 11 from Norway was doing a road trip around Dominican Republic, spent some time on the north coast and then they came to see us to Bayahibe.

They wanted to have a nice day on the boat, so we took them to Saona Island, then to our favorite place Piscina Natural and they all loved it too as you can see from the pictures. They enjoyed the clear blue water of Caribbean and lots of star fish.

On the way back we snorkeled at Bayahibe Bay.

When people have fun the day goes by very fast. It was time to go back to the hotel and then for a nice dinner.

Snorkeling at Isla Catalina

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

Snorkeling was good at Catalina Island, we saw lots of fish, but the weather changed on the way back, we had some rain and wind, the ocean was little wavy. But lunch at Cubanas (El Cafecito de la Cubana – our favorite restaurant) fixed it all.
