Tropical storm Ana is heading our way

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

Tropical storm Ana, the first one this season is heading our way and it looks like it will get here Tuesday morning. Just to be on the safe side we will have to take our baot Sharky out of the water Monday, unless the course of the storm changes.

So far it’s heading straight, some bigger waves are expected here on our coast of Dominican republic, which means there will be no scuba diving for that day.

Beautiful morning in Bayahibe

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Beautiful morning in Bayahibe bay. The water so calm, just waiting for the people to come in for a morning swim. Not too many people on the beach yet, just few guys raking the sand to prepare it for another day in paradise.

It was just before the “tourist rush” from Punta Cana and Bavaro started.

Showers in the forecast

Monday, August 10th, 2009

The forecast has been calling for the last month or so for showers, rain,  thunder storms. During the past week we’ve had probably 20 (twenty) rain drops during the days, one night some lightening and no rain at all.

We had still some little clouds yesterday morning, but the day was beautifull, like most of the days here in our paradise. Great conditions for scuba diving in Bayahibe, Dominican republic.

Hazy skies

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

Yesterday morning, when we were loading the boat for diving, the sky was a bit hazy, but by noon was nice and sunny again. This morning started with some big clouds above the bay, and looked like it was going to rain.

We had about 10 rain drops by the shop, but nothing around the area we went diving. There was probably some rain storm farther east, the water was a bit milky and the visibility wasn’t as good as during the past week. But we still saw some nice stuff. The water temperature 30 C / 86 F, air 35 C/ 96 F, light wind.

By 7 PM the outside temperature went to 28 C/ 82.5 F and some cloudes came in with more wind, but now rain so far.

Tropical wave coming in

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

There is a tropical wave coming in from Puerto Rico that will probably keep the same weather we’ve had for few more days. The forecast says that we should get some showers with a thunder storm in some areas.

We had few quick showers two nights ago that lasted probably 10 minutes each, the days have been hot, nice and sunny, mostly with clear skies. The evenings are little “cooler” with a nice breeze – very pleasant to have dinner at one of the restaurants in Bayahibe / Dominicus or just to sit on the beach and watch a beautifull sunset.

The Weather Department says that the tropical wave is now moving East and might bring more scattered showers and thunderstorms to Dominican Republic. Hopefully it will go more north and we will enjoy nice sunny days like we’ve been for past few weeks.

Calm ocean, great visibility, warm water, perfect conditions to go scuba diving, snorkeling or for a boat trip with Sharky – Diving Dominican Republic

Quick showers

Monday, July 27th, 2009

After 3 quick showers last night, we have another beautifull day again. The update for scuba divers – the visibility was good yesterday, the water tepmeperature still 30C / 86F anf getting warmer, the air 35C+ / 95F+. What more we can wish for?

Heavy rains

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

The heavy rains we had right now were caused by a tropical cyclone above Cuba that has been slowly moving northwest and it is above golf of Mexico righ now.

Raining all day

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Today has been raining all day long, still warm, but not a really great day to be out. Due to the weather, there is no diving today. Hopefully the wet conditions will pass soon and we will be back to the sunshine. But after all May is according to statistics the wettest month of the year.

The spring

Friday, April 10th, 2009

Finally looks like we have the spring here, the ocean temperature is getting higher, almost 27 C/81 F, the nights are not as cool anymore. Great time get to the water or at least for a boat trip, which we are planning for Sunday
